Cat scratching post sturdiness

Today there are many decent posts on the market which is different from even 15 years ago when most were cheaply made. This is a great development because it has meant less declawing.

Nevertheless, there are still many inadequate posts out there. Cats can be trained to scratch them but a poor post makes the process more difficult.

Primarily, a scratching post should be rock solid. Cats are nervous creatures and any sort of wobbliness might make the cat think the post will fall over, possibly striking her or him.

Natural Scratch is a solid block of white cedar and features a solid red cedar base. Two screws hold post and base together for a sturdy whole.
