White Cedar Characteristics
Cracks
and color variations are normal for white cedar (arbor vitae).
Cedar is soft and
stringy which makes
it excellent for scratching, but these same characteristics
might cause it to
crack due to temperature and humidity changes.
In
addition, to keeps costs down, the white cedar used for Natural Scratch
is not kiln-dried.
The cracks, however, almost never affect the usability of
the post. In fact, some owners
